What were the key focuses for this year's conference?

This year, we were the principal sponsor of BIBA for the very first time. We brought a strong presence to the conference, and our focus was all about moving forward with confidence, building stronger partnerships, and working smarter with you, our brokers.

This year’s BIBA experience was a live expression of our Together. Forward. Stronger. positioning. From the conversations we had to the materials we shared, it was all about helping our brokers and partners feel the difference in how we support them, now and in the future.

Key moments from the conference

There were some incredible sessions throughout the conference, and lots of our own people representing RSA and speaking about hot topics across the industry:

  • Adele Sumner, RSA's Head of Counter Fraud and Financial Crime, took part in a Fringe Session. Adele spoke passionately about fraud in the insurance market, and highlighted how technology is revolutionising insurance investigation - emphasising the need for insurers to build a broker-specialist fraud network.
  • Michael Gregory, RSA's Director of Underwriting Strategy for UK and International, sat on the panel session ‘Insurance Capacity for the New Era’. The talk urged that a strong tripartite relationship between broker, insurer and customer is key in navigating emerging risks. Michael also spoke to BIBA TV and reinforced the need for adaptation to be the industry’s focus rather than mitigation, in the midst of climate change.
  • Alan Houston, RSA's Strategic Sales and Accounts Director, spoke on what being a BIBA sponsor means and what a new era of insurance will look like for RSA. He also touched on our re-brand to Intact later this year, focusing on our service proposition and some of the milestones we've achieved so far.

While our stand was the hub of our BIBA presence, much of the week’s energy and impact came from the moments in between. We kicked off Wednesday morning with a broker wellness breakfast, hosted at the Radisson and featuring guest speaker Liz Earle MBE, entrepreneur and wellness advocate. Her insights into personal and professional wellbeing and how we lead with purpose and values, created a refreshing start to the day and sparked great conversations with our invited broker guests.

In the evening, we welcomed key partners to an exclusive RSA drinks reception and VIP dinner at Manchester’s iconic Stock Exchange, offering a brilliant setting for networking.

Thursday morning began with the Women in Insurance breakfast, which celebrated leadership, inclusion, and industry progress,. Another energising start that reflected the Together. Forward. Stronger. mindset.

We also proudly supported the Young Broker Day. We welcomed the next generation of insurance professionals to our stand for a Q&A with senior leaders, and offered insight into how we’re building a more connected and inclusive industry.

Highlights in the words of our RSA colleagues

Take our word for it, and hear what some of our colleagues had to say about this year's conference:

My highlight of BIBA was the amount of people and vibe within the room. It was so fantastic to see old faces and new, and how alive the insurance industry is at the moment.
Tony Collman - Property Director at RSA
My highlight of BIBA was that this year, we decided to do something that was a bit different at one of our broker events. We held a breakfast on day 1 with a focus on wellbeing, and we were joined by guest speaker Liz Earle, MBE - everyone took away some great hints and tips and it was really positive.
