About the programme

We started our programme over seven years ago and over time it has grown to be a defining programme that has helped numerous individuals enhance their insurance and broking careers.

Our Broker Leadership Programme delivers bespoke tools and techniques to help build delegates' knowledge and confidence, offers a unique and safe environment to practice new skills, with constructive feedback from trainers and fellow delegates, award-winning and industry-experienced presenters as well as the chance to network with like-minded individuals to exchange views and ideas.

  • Highly interactive training touching on major business themes, with an insurance broking focus
  • Tools and techniques to help build knowledge and confidence as you embark on a leadership role
  • A deep dive into key business themes including strategy, talent management, financial and P&L skills, change management, pitching, influencing, presentation skills, sales and relationship management
  • Experienced industry trainers utilising a blend of virtual discussions, group activities and a high level of participant interaction
  • A business project set in collaboration with your sponsor; this will be worked on throughout the duration of the training programme
  • A dedicated RSA mentor
  • The chance to network with like-minded individuals to exchange views and ideas and build your RSA relationships

Your programme in detail

Through a blend of classroom discussions, virtual sessions, group activities and participant interaction you are encouraged to develop outside of your office and outside of your own comfort zone. This format is a powerful way to help you understand new theories and tools and most importantly, develop an understanding of how to apply them in order to make a real difference in the performance of your brokerage.

Your project

Putting learning into action.

In order for you to gain the maximum benefit from the programme, we believe this is best achieved by putting learnings into action. As well as attending the face-to-face and virtual sessions, attendees will agree a project with their own sponsor which will be worked upon throughout the training programme.

The output from you will be a report and presentation. The aim is for the project to:

  • Cover a key strategic question for the brokerage that they need a solution for
  • Be relevant to one or more topics covered in the programme
  • Be something real that you could implement once the programme has finished

At the end of the programme you will have the opportunity to present your project report to your sponsor, RSA representatives and Searchlight Solutions, and to receive individual constructive feedback.

Your guide to mentoring

To support the learning experience, RSA will provide you with a mentor until the end of the programme. Mentoring can be defined in many different ways; but it’s basically guidance-based, whereby one person shares their knowledge, skills and experience to assist another to progress in their own life and career.

This relationship will benefit both parties involved and it is a chain for ‘passing on’ good practice so that learning can be widely spread beyond the parties in the mentoring relationship. We will contact you separately to match you with an appropriate mentor.

The below document should give you an insight into the role mentoring plays and you'll also receive a meeting invite, which covers mentoring and being a mentee. This is supported by RSA's Learning and Development Team.
