Biography

John Constable is an experienced trainer with a career that has given him expertise in most fields of training and facilitation, organisational development and real time change management in diverse organisations and commercial sectors, with three (successful!) mergers/acquisitions along the way.

After serving in the Royal Air Force as a specialist guided weapons officer, he introduced management development into a large supermarket before moving into insurance in 1991, where he has stayed! For nine years John was People Development Director for JLT and on the Board of the Lloyd’s Community Programme.

Since 2005 John has worked as a training consultant, delivering corporate governance, regulatory, risk, financial and business skills training for brokers and insurers. John tries to make connections across the broad skills array that successful organisations and people need. This is combined with commercial awareness and pure energy.

He authors the Corporate Governance chapter in the Thomson Reuters Insurance Practitioners Guide. His published articles have encompassed financial crime, learning and development strategies, operational risk management, change management and Solvency II.

He holds a BA (Hons) in history from King’s College London, the Open Business School Certificate in Finance for Non-Financial Managers, a Henley Diploma in Management, and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Outside work, John sails whenever he can (with his guitar) and tours battlefields: combining his other twin loves of motorcycling and military history.
